We’re excited to announce that our Plants of the Bible Conservatory opened to help kick off this year’s ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum on Friday, and we held our ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday!
Comprised of four separate glass greenhouses, this conservatory complex is a beautifully curated collection of special plants. Each greenhouse has its own climate. The largest greenhouse, featuring the Judean date palm, changes seasonally, and the subsequent greenhouses move from subtropical, to Mediterranean, and then to arid climates. All houses feature a variety of plants that can be found in that particular climate and region—many of which are mentioned in the Bible.
Toward the end of a self-guided tour that presents the gospel, guests can observe a plant species that may have been used to create the crown of thorns worn by Jesus during his crucifixion.
When you join us for ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum, you’ll be some of the first guests to visit the conservatory and see it decorated with lights as well!
Also, be sure to follow the star to our live nativity (which will be located on our Wonders of Creation Stage inside our new Creation Zoo) when you join us for this special time of the year! Reflect on the true meaning of Christmas as you stand before Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus at the live nativity.
Not only will your family enjoy these new additions to ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum, you’ll also love seeing the botanical gardens lit up in multicolored lights! Learn more about the events that surrounded the birth of Christ through live dramas inside Legacy Hall; in our 4K planetarium show, discover the truth about the mysterious star in the east that heralded the birth of Jesus and guided the wise men; and participate in family-friendly programs such as Christmas Truths for Families and 7 C’s of Christmas*; and so much more.
Start planning your ChristmasTown visit to the Creation Museum today, and make sure you check out our brand-new conservatory!
