Fair Trade

At the Creation Museum, you have the opportunity to impact the lives around the world when you purchase items from the fair trade selection in the Welcome Center and just outside the Dragon Hall Bookstore (see maps). These extraordinary and unique handcrafted products directly support impoverished people around the globe.

What Is Fair Trade?

Over one billion people around the world live on less than $1 per day. Poverty often leads to exploitation, and the most unfortunate victims are mainly women and children.

At its essence, fair trade is a buying relationship that creates opportunities for economically disadvantaged artisans in the developing world by providing a sustainable market for their handcrafted products through long-term buying relationships.

Fair Trade Is a Ministry

Fair trade is a purchase with a purpose. Most people do not realize how important fair trade is. Answers in Genesis partners with and supports many small Christian fair trade ministries. These ministries are impacting some of the poorest and marginalized people of the world in an immense way.

Your purchase helps provide economic and gospel hope to needy people God loves around the world.

We work with many small producers and individuals as well as established fair trade cooperatives to provide our guests with beautiful products and to provide our artisan friends with work and a reliable income, which gives them the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and the freedom to choose a different life.

Many of our fair trade partners are also ministry partners who wholeheartedly agree with our mission to “obey God’s call to deliver the message of the gospel, individually and collectively” and are actively sharing Christ in their sphere of influence. Your purchase helps provide economic and gospel hope to needy people God loves around the world.

Purchases from AiG helped:

  • Provide six-month salary for Indian women removed from the red-light district. The ministry states that without AiG support they would not exist.
  • Enable a Thai ministry to provide food and share the gospel to communities.
  • Rescue women out of sex trade in hostile countries.
  • Build Christian schools in Haiti and Nepal.
  • Fund advanced education.

We are called as Christians to share the good news and to minister to the poor, and we are blessed by doing so.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17
