High School Lab Intensives FAQ

Back to All High School Lab Intensives

Q: Can I observe the lab my child is attending?
A: Due to the classroom size, we are not able to accommodate observers.

Q: I traveled a long way for my child to attend. What can I do during the day while my child is in the lab?
A: Many people purchase Creation Museum admission and enjoy touring the attraction for the day. Others choose to work from a local coffee shop or nearby library. You can also visit nearby attractions. A special deal will be offered via email to lab parents after registration closes.

Q: Can I transfer my child’s registration to another lab?
A: Unfortunately, our system does not allow us to transfer registrations. If your request is made 21 days or more before the program for which you are registered, we would be happy to refund your registration, allowing you to re-register for an available lab of choice. For refunds, please contact reservations at (800) 721-2298.

Q: We are unable to attend a lab because my student was ill, out of town, etc. Can we arrange for a makeup day?
A: No. Due to the nature of the labs, we are unable to arrange for a makeup day for absences.

Q: Registration on the website is closed. Can you put my child on the waiting list? Will you open additional seats for a sold-out lab?
A: Please contact labs@creationmuseum.org to check if there is a waiting list. Due to classroom size, we are unable to open additional seats for labs.

Q: What is the length of the class?
A: Classes begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. The lab opens at 8:50 a.m.

A: A box lunch is provided for full-day, on-site lab programs. A snack bar is also included for lab intensive students.

A: Outside food is not allowed on attraction property. If you email our lab team at labs@creationmuseum.org, we can work with our culinary team to meet your student’s needs.

Q: My child is advanced and has completed the requirements for lab but does not meet the minimum age requirements. Can he/she participate in the class?
A: No. We strictly adhere to the ages listed on the website. Students must be the required minimum age prior to the first day of lab.

Q: Do you keep track of attendance?
A: Students initial the check-in sheet in the morning when they arrive and again after lunch, which provides a record of their attendance. At the end of the year, students will be provided a certificate with the number of lab hours completed for the year.

Q: Do you keep track of grades?
A: No. Labs are supplemental to the course—parents are responsible for assigning science course grades. At the end of the year, students will be provided a certificate with the number of lab hours completed for the year.

Q: What’s the difference between the 5-Day Forensics Camp and the Forensics Labs?
A: Labs are taught at the high school level and will provide students with an in-depth look at the field of forensic science. Due to timing in camp, the topics will be an overview of the different forensic disciplines.

Q: Do I have to pay for parking?
A: No. Parking is included in the lab registration fee.
