Origin of Coal and Oil with Dr. Andrew Snelling

Back to All Presentations

There is abundant evidence that coal beds are the result of the catastrophic burial of huge masses of vegetation, and not from peat layers formed by the plants growing in swamps over thousands of years as claimed by evolutionary geologists. Oil contains chemicals that indicate it is primarily of plant origin. Some oil accumulations are associated with adjacent coal beds from which the oil was derived. Most other oil accumulations are derived from marine algae buried in sedimentary layers. The processes of compressing the buried vegetation and converting it to coal, and of extracting oil from the buried algae and coal beds were rapid, as can be verified in the laboratory. These processes and timescales are totally consistent with this happening in the year of the recent global Flood and since.
