Due to public health efforts to contain COVID-19, the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum are temporarily closed until April 20 or later.
In our world-class collection of insects from around the world, you will be transferred into a world of staggering beauty, stunning acrobatic feats, ceaseless variety, and spectacular weirdness. In Dr. Crawley’s Insectorium, you’ll learn interesting facts: for example, did you know that not all insects are bugs, but all bugs are insects?
The exhibit features Dr. Arthur Pod, a fictional, animatronic person who answers visitors’ questions about these incredibly designed insects. Do you want to learn about the purpose of insects, the explosive bombardier beetle, or whether there’s a reason for the beauty of butterflies? Let the doctor know, and he’ll teach you about your topic of choice.
Dr. Geoff Crawley is a real creation scientist who generously donated his insect collection to the Creation Museum in 2013. The collection represents a lifetime of collecting by Dr. Crawley, who began his interest in these creatures during a merit badge project as a kid. Wherever his travels took him, he would venture out and add to his collection. “The goal of every collector,” Dr. Crawley says, “should be to share his collection with others.”
Dr. Crawley’s Insectorium is located on the bottom floor of the Creation Museum near Palm Plaza and the world-class Dinosaur Den. This fun, interactive exhibit with its world-class insect collection (added in 2013) rivals the quality seen at the Smithsonian.Ticket Options
