Global Catastrophe

by Creation Museum on September 26, 2024

After the fall of man, things became worse and worse. Sin abounded to the point that Scripture notes, “Every intention of the thoughts of [man’s] heart was only evil continually” and “the earth was filled with violence” (Genesis 6:5, 11). The Lord was grieved at this great wickedness, and he determined to send judgment—a catastrophic global flood.

But even in judgment, God chose to extend mercy. He instructed Noah to build an ark that would withstand the coming catastrophe and preserve life. After the ark was complete, the flood came as God had promised. Of those with the “breath of life”—humans; birds; and land-dwelling, air-breathing animals—only righteous Noah, his family, and the creatures with them aboard the ark would survive.

The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. (Genesis 6:5–6)
I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. (Genesis 6:17)
