New 4D Special Effects Theater Now Open

by Creation Museum on August 16, 2018

We’re excited to announce the special effects theater at the Creation Museum has been totally renovated and is now open for you to enjoy on your next visit! If you’ve been to the museum before, you won’t recognize the auditorium as the original special effects theater, which has been renamed the 4D Special Effects Theater. Check out what’s new and see what our guests are saying about the changes below.

4D Special Effects Theater

What’s New?

As you enter the theater, you will receive a pair of 3D glasses. But these aren’t the 3D glasses you’re familiar with from regular movie theaters.

Guests in 3D Glasses

These are “active 3D glasses” that use infrared technology. And they’re battery operated, allowing them to rapidly shutter open and closed, blocking information meant for the left eye from the right eye. These special high-tech glasses add a whole new level to your experience that you won’t find at most other 3D movie theaters.

Special closed-captioned reading glasses will be available for Deaf guests or those with hearing impairments.

Guests Watching In Six Days

Our new projector is top-of-the-line and liquid-cooled, delivering 34,000 lumens, so the shows will be bright, crisp, and clear. Our projector is a Christie CP 4230 model, currently used in only the most high-tech theaters. The company that created this projector is the world’s leader in 4K resolution Digital Cinema projection, so you’ll be blown away by the quality of the images on the screen.

This state-of-the-art 4D theater is able to show 3D films as well as provide special effects that create the fourth dimension, such as rumbling seats, wind, and other surprises. In addition to the 3D glasses and projector, everything in the 4D Special Effects Theater is new—from the carpet to the walls to the chairs, stage, screen, speakers, lights, and more!

Brand New Show

We’re excited that our friends at Creation Today have allowed us to show a shortened version of their film Genesis: Paradise Lost in our 4D theater. Enjoy a brand-new, 20-minute, spectacular 3D show, In Six Days.

Guests in the 4D Special Effects Theater

In Six Days is a 3D experience that brings the first chapter of Genesis to life like never before. With realistic plant life springing forth at God’s command, birds filling the skies, and animals—including dinosaurs—filling the earth, this film looks incredible in the 3D theater (plus special effects). We can’t wait for you to experience it!

What Are Guests Saying?

Our social media team stopped guests as they were leaving the 4D Special Effects Theater on opening day to see what they thought of the new experience. Here’s what they had to say.
