Recently we had a school group return for their fifth overnight at the museum. Florence Christian School from Florence, South Carolina, has brought their sixth grade class five consecutive years. The lower elementary students look forward to taking this trip, and the school starts promoting the trip in June to the students who might attend. FCS uses some AiG curriculum and materials, so this trip supplements what the students are learning in their classroom. The school places a high importance on this trip because they feel “that this is the last time to reach them” since some students may leave to go to public schools beginning in their junior high years.
This group was easy to pick out from the other guests because of their cool t-shirt design. To add to the excitement of the trip, they even scheduled lunch on a riverboat cruise! Evidently from the photos, it appears that there is no shortage of people who will volunteer to come along to chaperone the trip! Word has it that they have already planned next year’s trip. We’ll keep the light on for them until, of course, it’s time to take the flashlight tour of the museum!
