Answers in Genesis–US was recently blessed to hear about two special events, where, out of the mouths of children, the Lord has truly ‘perfected praise’ (Matthew 21:16, KJV).
In the fall, two young sisters hosted a unique skating fundraiser for AiG in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They printed flyers using the art at www.CreationMuseum.org, encouraging people to donate to AiG’s Creation Museum, under construction near Cincinnati, Ohio. This creative duo rented the rink from 6-9 pm, and then sold $4 tickets ahead of time. The skating party was a real hit, netting over $300 for the museum!
More importantly, the young people got to participate in a Bible-upholding cause that, as the flyer said, ‘will equip families and churches to have answers for their faith ... and also show them how to effectively present the Gospel to a skeptical world.’
This past summer, a Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Grace Baptist Church in LaPorte, Indiana, featured the delightful archaeologist Rocky Rockhound, who challenged young people with the life-changing truths of God’s Word, including Genesis’ lessons about sin and judgment.
Rocky, along with his companion Dino Dinosaur, distributed dinosaur cards, brochures, magnets and books from Answers in Genesis to reinforce the creation message. ‘The children especially liked the dinosaur cards, which will serve as a reminder of the many young-Earth references we included in our daily opening skits,’ the VBS director said.
Ken Ham, president of AiG-US, was deeply touched when the 75 children sent a love offering to AiG’s Creation Museum, totaling over $250. In the letter that accompanied the offering, the VBS director explained the children’s burden for the ministry: ‘We pray that the AiG Museum will be able to tell many children about God’s faithfulness, from the very first verse of God’s true Word, the Bible!’
What a humbling reminder of our enormous obligation to teach children the truths of God’s Word, beginning in Genesis! With the increasing assaults of evolutionary teaching in our world today, Christ’s warning is timely: ‘Whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea’ (Mark 9:42).
