As we approach the Easter season, we invite you to reflect on Jesus’ final days, death, and resurrection.

The Triumphal Entry

Not long after raising Lazarus from the dead, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a colt, the foal of a donkey, as foretold by the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9). Many people spread their clothes and palm branches on the road, a gesture reminiscent of a king’s coronation parade. The people hailed him as the long-awaited Messiah, praising him with language from the Psalms (Mark 11:1–11, John 12:12–19).

Cleansing the Temple

The next day, Jesus went into the temple, overturned the tables of the money changers, and drove out the people who had converted it into a marketplace. He scolded them and said that the temple was meant to be a house of prayer, but they had turned it into a den of thieves. This infuriated the chief priests, and they looked for an opportunity to kill him (Matthew 21:12–17, Mark 11:12–19).

The Last Supper

On the night of his arrest, Jesus shared one final meal with his disciples. He washed their feet as an example of how they should serve others. And, as a symbol of the new covenant, he gave them bread to eat and wine to drink, representing his body and blood that would be sacrificed on the cross the next day (Matthew 26:26–29, John 13:1–20).

The Crucifixion

After being betrayed by one of his disciples, Jesus was arrested, led through multiple trials, beaten, mocked, and accused of blasphemy by the Jewish leaders. Although the Roman governor, Pilate, found no fault in him, he condemned Jesus to be flogged and then crucified outside Jerusalem on a hill called Calvary—the Place of the Skull (John 18–19).

“It Is Finished”

Just before he died, Jesus said, “It is finished.” In the original language, this referred to a debt that had been paid in full. In other words, his sacrificial death paid the full price of our sin debt (John 19:30).

Followers of other religions generally believe that they can earn eternal life by performing good deeds. But if this were true, then the Son of God would not have needed to die on the cross, and Jesus would have been mistaken when he said that no one could come to God except through him (John 14:6).

Many professing Christians believe that to be saved, they must add good works to faith in Christ. But this idea neglects the fact that the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus Christ was sufficient to pay for all our sins.

Why Was Jesus Crucified?

The Bible explains that death is the penalty for sin, and that without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness (Romans 6:23, Hebrews 9:22).

For centuries, God’s people shed animal blood to cover their sins, but the blood of these creatures could never take away sins (Hebrews 10:4).

Only a perfect man could pay for our rebellion. We are all corrupted by sin, so the Son of God became a man, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as our substitute—the perfect, once-for-all sacrifice for sin.

He Is Risen

Jesus repeatedly told his disciples that he would die and rise from the dead three days later. In fact, his resurrection was the one sign he said he would give to “an evil and adulterous generation” (Matthew 12:39–40).

On the third day, several women set out for the tomb while it was still dark. There was an earthquake; an angel rolled away the stone and terrified the guards. He told the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:1–6).

The resurrection of Jesus Christ demonstrated much more than just his power over the grave. It also gives us confidence in our hope of eternal life.

This amazing miracle demonstrates that God fully endorsed the work and claims of Jesus. This is particularly significant in regard to Christ’s claims of divinity. If Jesus was not God in the flesh, as he claimed, then why would God respond by fulfilling a prediction that confirms the truth of Christ’s claims? Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus Christ proves both his divinity and that he had God’s absolute approval.

The resurrection also grants believers in Christ a preview of the future in that they will also be raised in glorified bodies. Our corruptible and mortal bodies will become incorruptible and immortal (1 Corinthians 15:53).

Start planning your visit to the Creation Museum, and be sure to walk through our Christ, Cross, Consummation exhibit on the lower level of the museum to equip your family with answers about Jesus’ life and death this Easter season.

Although both the mother’s and baby’s blood flow through the placenta, they do not mix. If the placenta did not protect the baby in this way, the mother’s body would fight against the baby’s blood with antibodies. At birth, this selfless servant becomes unnecessary and is discarded.

Baby’s First Breath

In the first few moments after birth, many significant changes occur.

During development, blood bypasses the lungs, taking a shortcut through the heart, where it must flow in order to be pumped to the rest of the body. At birth, that shortcut closes so that blood flows to the lungs, and the bypass between the heart’s right and left atria closes.

The baby spent her first nine months in fluid, so the blood and lymph systems remove fluid from the lungs and replace it with oxygen, allowing her to take her first breath.

Start planning your trip to the Creation Museum today, and don’t miss learning about the sanctity of life from a biblical perspective through our Fearfully & Wonderfully Made exhibit.

We’re thrilled to announce that our brand-new Radiance exhibit at the Creation Museum is now open! This exhibit is stunning—absolutely beautiful and very unique. It addresses the identity issue, specifically helping young people to think biblically about who they are and what it means to be a boy or a girl, a man or a woman, made in God’s image and created on purpose and for a purpose.

Radiance features stunning displays that challenge guests to consider their identity in light of the Bible. Special effects and dramatic lighting illustrate both the turmoil and darkness that exist when someone rejects their biblical identity and, conversely, the beauty that’s revealed when someone turns to the truth.

At the heart of this exhibit is a desire to see everyone, particularly young people, understand the truth about their identity—that they are made in the image of God—and to help equip family and friends of those struggling so they can help their loved ones through these emotionally charged crises.

We hope that this exhibit will help many discover their true identity rooted in Christ and find the peace and freedom that can only come from our good God.

Visit Radiance in February and Save!

If you’re planning to come and see Radiance soon, February is the perfect month because we’re offering a special discount. During February 2026, you can enjoy 20% off single-day general admission tickets to the Creation Museum (and/or Ark Encounter) when you purchase your tickets online with code FEB2026 (must be purchased and used in the month of February. Please be aware that our winter hours are Wednesday–Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Explore the Creation Museum’s New Radiance Exhibit from Home

However, if you can’t make it to see Radiance for yourself in February, you can explore some of the content from home while you wait for your next visit!

Our design team has prepared a companion webpage for guests to interact with the exhibit before or after they’ve experienced it. On this page, you’ll find biblical teaching, videos, and links to articles and other resources about what it means to be a man or woman with an identity rooted in God’s image. It’s a great page to explore with your middle or high school student.

Miscarriages are technically referred to as involuntary spontaneous abortions. When a woman voluntarily terminates her pregnancy, it is known as an induced abortion, and this is what is generally meant by the term abortion.

Happy New Year from all of us at the Creation Museum! Now is the perfect time to start planning your trip to visit us at the museum and the Ark Encounter this year.

One of the first things that will greet you when your family enters the main doors of the museum is Dragon Hall. This large, winding corridor leading to the rest of the museum starts your visit off with a look into a fascinating subject—dragons.

It’s an interesting thought, considering the word dragon usually brings to mind a mythical creature that surely belongs in the realm of unicorns and minotaurs, right? But there’s evidence that creatures known in the past as dragons were real (though sometimes accompanied by embellished or outright fictional stories, as is seen with many creatures still living today).

Is that to say that flying, fire-breathing dragons that looked like something from a CGI film actually used to exist? Well, sort of. More likely, the “dragons” of the past were part of a broad classification of creatures we see evidence of today—creatures like dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and marine reptiles.

The term dinosaur is itself a relatively modern word, only coined in the mid-1800s. If humans and extinct creatures like dinosaurs once coexisted (which Scripture is clear that they did), then it is only logical to conclude there were other names for them before the word dinosaur entered our vocabulary.

On your next visit to the Creation Museum, plan to spend a few extra minutes in Dragon Hall and take a look at what the Bible, science, history, and legend have to say about dragons!

Immersive sculptural art, stunning light effects, and interactive exhibit features will make discovering the truth about how God designed you as impactful and deeply personal as the questions the exhibit answers.

Identity According to God’s Design

The Radiance exhibit at the Creation Museum will be an enlightening and inspiring walk through the answers that God’s design provides for our identity. Every person God created has immeasurable worth and a unique way of fulfilling his purpose for them.

If you feel like your identity doesn’t fit neatly inside of one of the categories the world offers, there may be a good reason for that. The categories we are offered by mainstream philosophy, media, and influencers are often focused on just one small part of who we are as a whole. And, in many cases, those pieces of our identity are further confused by the brokenness of our sinful world.

Only God’s complete and carefully crafted design makes sense of all the aspects of who we were meant to be.

A Narrative Art Installation

In this exhibit, glass tells the story. Because identity is not something that can be expressly illustrated, like an ark or a garden, we chose immersive, abstract sculpture to support this exhibit’s narrative.

The transformation of the glass throughout the exhibit traces the path many follow as they seek answers about their true identities, through a hurricane of confusing messages via media screens, to the shattered wreckage left behind when identity questions fail to be answered by popular platitudes.

Finally, the broken glass is reconstructed into an illuminated sculpture-room, reflecting on the beauty of an identity redeemed and restored to God’s design and made to shine the glory of his reflection.

Answers Grounded in Reality

Identity may be abstract to represent visually, but God’s truth about the topic is refreshingly concrete.

If the world’s answer of “everything goes” seems vague, unhelpful, and even dangerous to you, then you can explore solid answers about how our identities were intended to be lived out. In the Radiance exhibit, you’ll discover the truth about where each person’s value and purpose come from, consider how God’s purposeful creation of each person as male or female affects your overall identity, and finally, dive into what it means to be made in the image of God and how knowing his character should shape our lives.

Relatable Characters

Radiance is our first exhibit written for young teens! Throughout the exhibit, audio narration, short-form content, first- and second-person narratives, custom animations, and bonus video content linked to QR codes will address a deeply philosophical topic via practical, conversational engagement.

In two exclusive animations created just for the exhibit, you can follow along as a young girl named Grace discovers that the answers to who she is and who she can be are all found in her Creator.

Interactive Exhibit Features

Signage with hidden text that you can reveal with the touch of a button and a fully interactive station that allows you to create a work of art with light prisms both invite you to participate in the very personal questions of how your God-given identity can uniquely influence this world.

Experience the Exhibit in Person

You won’t want to miss the chance to see the stunning visual effects of this exhibit in person while taking in its timely and inspiring teaching on identity. Start planning your visit to the Creation Museum today, and get ready to experience the Radiance exhibit for yourself.

Whether you’re driving or flying, the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter are easy to visit! Located in Northern Kentucky, both attractions are an easy drive from the Cincinnati metro area and within a one-day drive of almost two-thirds of the US population. Here are some of the top tips for visiting.

We recommend keeping things simple and staying in one place for your entire visit. Not only does it reduce travel fatigue, but you don’t have to worry about coordinating check-in or check-out times, packing and unpacking, making for a more pleasant trip. Florence, KY, is home to the Cincinnati airport, provides an abundance of lodging and dining options, and is an easy drive to both attractions.

Creation Museum

The Creation Museum is located less than 10 miles from the Cincinnati airport (fun fact—the Cincinnati airport is actually in Kentucky, not Ohio). Stay with one of our hotel partners to get the best lodging rates and experience—just use our trip planning tool to search our hotel partners and find one that works for you.

Ark Encounter

The Ark Encounter is a scenic 45-minute drive south of the Creation Museum, and only a 30-minute drive from Florence. While the Ark is nestled in beautiful rolling hills, the rural location does limit lodging and dining options. There are some lodging options in the area if you’d rather stay close, which you can find using our trip planning tool.

Once you arrive at the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter, you’ll find everything you need onsite with snack shops and restaurants to keep you hydrated, caffeinated, and hangry-free.

Now is a great time to plan your visit, with a brand-new exhibit set to open soon. Our Radiance exhibit will give hope and answers to today’s youth who are struggling to find their identity. It is a great addition to the rest of the exhibits that share answers, hope, and peace, all found in the Word of God.

Our teams are hard at work bringing the one-of-a-kind Radiance exhibit to life.

Our Radiance exhibit is scheduled to open (hopefully) right after Thanksgiving.

Learn more about our awesome exhibits and plan your trip today!

Can science and the Bible coexist, or does believing in one prohibit belief in the other? Many people fall into the trap of believing that science and biblical faith are at odds with one another, but is that really the truth?

Science is, broadly speaking, knowledge about the things of this world. And since God created the world, shouldn’t science and faith be intertwined? For those who believe God’s Word, there is no conflict with science—science confirms the truth revealed in the pages of Scripture, and both help us better understand the world around us.

The conflict between faith and science exists when people reject God as the Creator of the world. When they do this, the truth revealed in the Bible must be rejected, and they look for alternative explanations to make sense of what they see around them.

At the Creation Museum, we explore science through the truth revealed in God’s Word—what the Bible has to say about the big bang, evolution, age of the earth, and so much more. Science confirms the Bible in amazing ways that declare God’s glory, and the answers are all there, just waiting to be discovered.

The Bible speaks to all of life and gives us answers to the questions we all search for and long for.

Día Latino 2025

Answers in Genesis exists to share those answers and the truth of God’s Word with the world. Every fall, we host a conference to connect with the Spanish-speaking community. This year’s event will dig into the idea of the home as a fortress, where we will talk about the importance of building an intentional home that protects, guides, and is grounded in biblical truth.

Día Latino will take place October 17–18, 2025.

Many of these traditions share common elements with the biblical flood described in Genesis. For example, many of these stories assert that man’s wickedness brought divine judgment upon the whole world and that eight people and some animals survived aboard a large boat.

The Bible provides the historical account of the worldwide flood. By carefully comparing these legends with God’s Word, we see that many of these traditions have distorted, embellished, or lost information about the actual events.

Similarly, cultures from all over the globe also have dragon legends. Epic battles between gallant knights and fierce dragons are rather common, and the descriptions of these beasts are often very similar to those of dinosaurs.

Of course, ancient people would not have called them “dinosaurs,” since that word was coined in 1841. Carvings and cave paintings of these monsters have been discovered. Some of these dragon legends contain mythical elements, while others likely lost all the true details and retain nothing more than tall tales. But in many cases, the dragons were viewed as real animals. Do some of these dragon legends actually speak of dinosaurs?

In the Bible, God told Job about two creatures that could be considered dragons: the Behemoth and the Leviathan. Some Christians suggest that these are mythical monsters, but the mention of Behemoth and Leviathan in the book of Job follows the descriptions of about a dozen real animals. Furthermore, why would God tell Job to consider two beasts that did not even exist?

Dragon Legends Around the World

Red Dragon of Wales

Many tales describe how Y Ddraig Goch (the red dragon) came to be closely associated with Wales. One popular story tells of an epic battle between a red dragon and a white dragon, in which the red dragon saved the people of the land by defeating the white dragon.

The Lernaean Hydra

According to Greek mythology, Hercules performed 12 labors, including a battle with a great creature known as the hydra. This serpentine dragon had nine heads and poisonous breath. When one head was cut off, two more would grow in its place. Hercules battled fiercely and ultimately defeated the serpent.

Quetzalcoatl

The Mesoamerican Aztecs and Toltecs worshipped the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl (called Kukulcan by the Maya people). According to their mythology, he was the god of the wind and the morning and evening stars.

Daniel and the Dragon

Not accepted as part of the Old Testament canon by Jews or Protestants, the Apocrypha include extra chapters in the book of Daniel. Here we are told about Daniel’s encounter with a great dragon.

The king of Babylon commanded Daniel to worship his dragon as a god. The prophet refused and told the king that he could prove the creature was not a god by killing it without a sword or club. Daniel made cakes of pitch, fat, and hair, and fed them to the dragon, causing it to burst open.

St. George and the Dragon

St. George (AD 275–303) was a devout Christian and Roman military officer. The famous legend of his battle with the dragon is said to have occurred during his journey to join his men in Diocletian’s army.

As he neared the city of Selene in Libya, he saw a young princess outside the city wall. She pleaded with him to leave so that he would not be killed by the dragon to which she was being offered as a sacrifice. George refused to leave and vowed to protect her.

Suddenly, the dragon appeared and attacked the soldier. During his fierce battle against the fire-breathing foe, George found a weak spot under the beast’s left wing and delivered a crippling blow. The legend explains that the princess then led the maimed creature back into the city, where George killed it in the presence of the people.

The king asked George what he wanted as a reward. The dragonslayer replied, “I desire only that ye believe in the God who strengthened my hand to gain this victory.” After baptizing the city into the Christian faith, George resumed his trek to join his troops.

Beowulf and the Dragon

Originally written in Old English, the epic poem Beowulf is named for its hero and tells of his mighty deeds in sixth-century Scandinavia, a time known as the Vendel Era.

The most famous creature in the tale is Grendel, a fierce monster that devoured scores of Danish nobles. Beowulf defeated this creature by ripping its arm from the socket, causing the beast to bleed to death. The hero also defeated Grendel’s mother and numerous sea dragons.

Beowulf died from wounds sustained from a vicious fire dragon that terrorized the land after a thief had stolen a golden cup from the beast’s hoard. Aided by a brave warrior, Beowulf vanquished the flying dragon and saved the land.

The epic contains accurate historical information as well as fiction. The stories of battling dragons may be legendary, but do they have any basis in reality? Did these men or their ancestors actually fight dinosaurs and pterosaurs? This idea would be consistent with the Bible. But those who believe dinosaurs lived millions of years before man cannot adequately explain why cultures around the world have dragon legends whose creatures often match descriptions of dinosaurs.

Start planning your visit to the Creation Museum, and learn more about dragon legends and dinosaurs in the Dragon Legends exhibit.

Throughout much of ancient Israel’s history, Old Testament scrolls were kept in the temple. As synagogues sprang up in the centuries before the birth of Christ, copies of scrolls were made for these assembly places.

The New Testament writings were originally penned on scrolls and sent to individuals (e.g., Timothy, Theophilus), individual churches (e.g., Corinth, Thessalonica), or groups of churches in a region (e.g., Galatians). Scribes soon made copies to be distributed to churches throughout the Roman Empire and beyond.

As early as the second century AD, most of the books had reached a number of churches, and Christians frequently compiled their writings into an early form of the book, known as a codex. This innovation allowed believers to carry a large amount of Scripture in a compact format, and it also elevated the need to identify which writings were authoritative and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Since that time, the Bible has been copied, translated, sold, and read more than any other book in history.

Recognizing the Canon

The collection of books in the Bible is referred to as the canon, from the Latin word for rule or standard. The 39 books of the Old Testament were largely agreed upon by the first century AD.

Circumstances in the second century AD necessitated the recognition of the New Testament canon to affirm which writings were authoritative and inspired by the Holy Spirit. The apostles and those who learned directly from them had died, and erroneous books were being written by people using the names of key biblical figures.

Except for a handful of books (Hebrews, 2 Peter, 2 and 3 John, Jude, and Revelation), there was practically unanimous acceptance of the New Testament writings as Scripture during the second century AD, and even the disputed books were accepted by most churches. In AD 367, Athanasius listed the 27 books of the New Testament as the complete canon, and the church councils at Hippo Regius (AD 393) and Carthage (AD 397) affirmed his list.

Ultimately, God determined which books belonged in the Bible, and the Holy Spirit inspired the writing of these books to teach and guide his people. The church does not determine the canon. Instead, believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit can recognize his voice (John 10:2–5) and discover which books were inspired by him.

Start planning your visit to the Creation Museum today, and be sure to learn more about God’s Word in our Biblical Authority exhibit.

Last week, we celebrated our 18th anniversary! On May 28, 2007, we officially opened the Creation Museum—and look what the Lord has done in those 18 years!

The museum has attracted far more visitors than we ever imagined, and it has grown, expanded, and been updated . . . and then grown some more! The expansions are continuing with our Wallaby Walkabout, which is now open, and our Butterfly House, opening later this month.

Creation Zoo’s Wallaby Walkabout

The mission of the Creation Zoo is to be a world-class zoo providing guests with experiences and education that inspire a biblical understanding of creation stewardship. With these goals in mind, zoo staff collaborated with the site development, horticulture, attractions design, facilities and maintenance teams, and others to design a new interactive habitat for guests to experience unique wildlife up close—the Wallaby Walkabout, which is now officially open to guests!

The Wallaby Walkabout features unique species from the Indian Ocean and South Pacific Islands. Currently, it houses four Bennett’s wallabies (Jane, Lizzy, Kitty, and Willoughby) and four Aldabra tortoises (Cashew, Macadamia, Peanut, and Pistachio).

Additional species will be added soon.

Bennett's wallabies are in the same created kind as kangaroos, but they are smaller. They can hop up to 30 miles per hour (48.3 km/h), cover 13 feet (4 m) in a single stride, and leap up to six feet (1.8 m) high. Jellybean-sized joeys are born after one-month pregnancies and are blind, deaf, and hairless at birth. They finish developing in their mothers’ pouches over several months before peeking out for the first time.

Aldabra tortoises are the second-largest species of tortoise alive today. They may grow up to four feet (1.2 m) long and weigh over 600 pounds (272.2 kg). They are also the longest-living land vertebrates (animals with backbones) known today, reaching verified ages of over 200 years.

This habitat is accessible to enter for guests (included with guests’ Creation Museum admission ticket) and will be open during select hours (weather permitting), which will be posted online and on the daily schedule.

The animals will still be viewable outside of entry hours. Guests must stay on the paths in the walkabout at all times. If the wallabies or tortoises choose to approach, guests may touch them on their backs.

Zoo staff will always be present during opening hours to supervise interactions and answer questions.

Butterfly House

Our brand-new Butterfly House at the Creation Zoo will be a wonderful addition to the Creation Museum. It features native butterfly (and eventually moth) species, and guests can enjoy watching hundreds of these amazing creatures fluttering around them as they stroll down a beautiful, flowered path.

As guests stroll along the path, they will learn about God’s design in metamorphosis and how it parallels the gospel’s ability to transform human lives. Visitors will also learn the importance of wisely stewarding creation and how to help vulnerable butterflies like monarchs, a flagship species.

We currently have 350 butterflies representing six species: cabbage whites, clouded sulphurs, common buckeyes, monarchs, painted ladies, and red admirals. More shipments of butterflies and moths will arrive throughout the summer, matching their natural life cycles.

Due to the animals’ natural lifespan and care requirements, the Butterfly House is a seasonal attraction. It will be open select hours from late spring through early fall each year and is wheelchair accessible. Please check the online schedules before visiting or the on-site printed schedules for dates and times.

Tickets cost $4 per person, and children four years old and younger are free. (We have to purchase butterflies every couple of weeks from a breeder, so there is a cost for us to maintain this attraction.) Stay tuned as more species continue to arrive throughout the summer!

Start planning your visit to the Creation Museum today, and be sure to head out to the Creation Zoo to check out our new Wallaby Walkabout and Butterfly House!

From the beautiful to the bizarre, insects challenge the idea of evolution. The incredible details of color and design stand as spectacular witnesses to our loving and imaginative Creator.

There are over one million identified insect species today, with probably many more to be discovered. God created animals and plants with the ability to adapt to new and changing environments by equipping them with tremendous genetic versatility. This diversity prepared them for the “struggle for survival” that followed man’s sin and the dramatic changes in ecosystems that resulted from Noah’s flood.

Beetles are the single largest group of living things on earth in terms of the number of species and total population. Beetles are just one type of insect. They can easily be distinguished from other types of insects by the straight line down their backs dividing the two forewings, or elytra. These wings are not used for flying but are tough coverings that protect the hind wings used for flight.

The thin, transparent wings underneath the elytra have numerous creases and hinges that allow the beetle to fold them up like a Navy jet fighter parked on an aircraft carrier. This brilliant design allows beetles to drill into trees, plow underground, swim underwater, or squeeze into tight places. But when they need to cover ground in a hurry, nearly all beetles can unfurl their hind wings and fly.

Insect Fossils

The fossil record confirms the biblical account of Noah’s flood. God created insects and other life forms during creation week thousands of years ago, and billions of creatures died in the global flood of Noah’s day.

Preservation Shows Rapid Burial

What happens when an insect, or any animal, dies? It does not usually become a fossil. Something has to stop the normal scavenging and decay processes in order for the animal to be preserved.

The global flood, as recorded in Genesis, explains most of the plethora of fossils found around the world. Everything that had the breath of life in its nostrils, other than those saved on Noah’s ark, died in the year-long catastrophe. Mud, sandstone, and volcanic ash buried the carcasses of billions of dead things, protecting the remains from scavengers and preventing full decay.

Did Noah Take Insects on the Ark?

Obviously, many insects survived the flood, but you may wonder how. The Bible does not specifically say whether Noah was to take insects onboard the ark, but God did command him to take two of every kind of creeping thing and flying thing. Since insects do not have the “breath of life” in their nostrils (they don’t have nostrils), they may not have been included.

If Noah did not specifically load insects on the ark to save them, many certainly went aboard in the wood, supplies, food, and on the other animals. Others could have survived on huge mats of floating vegetation and decaying organic material. During cold or stormy weather, many insects can go through a diapause stage (similar to hibernation) or a long pupa stage between larva and adult, and this ability could have allowed many kinds of insects to survive.

When you visit the Creation Museum, make sure to check out Dr. Crawley’s Insectorium to learn even more about God’s amazing design for this world, including the creepy-crawlies! Start planning your trip today!

The Rebuilding of Civilization

The flood destroyed civilization and rearranged the whole surface of the earth. While forests regrew and resources were rediscovered, humans made do with whatever shelters they could find and materials they could easily fashion.

Human remains found around the world (including those named Homo erectus, Neanderthal, and Cro-Magnon) show that the immigrants from Babel found shelter in newly formed caves and made tools out of rocks and sticks to meet basic needs. They left behind artifacts, musical instruments, ceremonial burials, and fire pits, which show that they were intelligent and fully human.

Within the lifetime of Noah and his sons, the families who left Babel began rediscovering resources and using the knowledge from pre-flood times to quickly build remarkable civilizations.

God Scatters the Nations

When Noah’s descendants disobeyed God’s command to fill the earth, God gave them different languages, causing them to spread over the earth. The scattering of people explains the formation of different people groups.

Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:1–9)

The Entrance of Human Religion

At Babel, humans rejected God’s plan, worshipping the creation rather than the Creator and following their own way rather than God’s way. All human religions have followed their example, inventing myths to replace God’s account of creation and Noah’s flood. They ignore God’s warnings of judgment and his promises of blessing.

Babel Explains Our Differences

At Babel, God created numerous languages. Over time, these languages changed into the thousands of different languages we have today. Yet modern languages still follow patterns of the original languages at Babel.

These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood. (Genesis 10:32)

All the humans who settled the earth after the flood descended from Noah’s three sons. Yet the human gene pool split up after Babel. In just a few generations, different combinations of previously existing genetic information resulted in distinct people groups, each with superficial differences, including different skin tones and eye shapes.

And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place. (Acts 17:26)

Learn More About Babel During Family Adventure Days

We have two more Mondays of our Family Adventure Days here at the Creation Museum, where you can learn about Babel and so much more!
