What’s your favorite thing about Christmas? Is it the decorations? How about the music? Oh, I bet I know what it is . . . the presents! In this workshop we talk about the greatest gift the world has ever received: the gift of Jesus.
Starting with the very beginning of world history, presenter Ruth Carter unfolds the promise God made to send a rescuer from sin, Jesus. The promise was first given to Eve, next to Abraham, and then down his family line to King David. She reviews the disobedience of the nation of Israel that ended in their captivity, and how, just when everything looked hopeless, God did as He promised! He broke into history and sent His son to be the Savior of the world.
The powerful theme is revealed through a power point presentation, discovery of the contents of large gift boxes, a small nativity drama, and the construction of a cross, demonstrating the ultimate purpose of the coming of Jesus. What a great reminder to bring kids back to the real reason we celebrate Christmas! Students will make a Christmas tree ornament as a keepsake of their visit to the workshop and the Creation Museum.
Christmas Town Kids is presented by Mrs. Ruth Carter. She grew up in Africa where her parents were missionaries. Ruth has a B.S. in nursing from the University of Illinois. She and her husband are in charge of the volunteer program here at the Creation Museum. Ruth also teaches several other kids’ workshops.
This program is open to children ages 5 to 12. The presentation is planned with the upper elementary student in mind, but kids ages 5 through 6th grade may attend. Tickets are just $3.50. Parents can accompany their children at no additional charge, but do need to reserve a free observer ticket.
