Bethlehem’s Blessings News

Guests to the museum in the past few days have been asking upon arrival, “What are they building?” In a matter of days a mysterious new structure has appeared right in front of the museum. The construction seems unbelievably quick because the fabrication team has been building the parts behind the scenes for weeks. Actually, the museum design team has been planning and drawing designs for this small building off and on since January.

After Christmas was over last year, we decided to take a whole new approach to Bethlehem’s Blessings 2009. We’ll still have the costumed actors (including the popular Roman soldiers), live nativity, thousands of lights, and a warm fire along the trail for respite from the cold. But this year most of the dramatic elements will take place right outside the doors of the museum. That brings us back to the mysterious new structure.

When it is all done, the building will be a representation of a small first-century home in Bethlehem. Inside the lower level of the home, an unfamiliar backdrop adorns a humble, familiar scene of the live nativity.

Why aren’t we building a stable? Come to Bethlehem’s Blessings and find out! An archaeologist, speaking to the crowd from the flat roof of the home, will explain everything in a brief presentation which will take place repeatedly each night of the event.

Christian Actors and Crew Needed

Have you ever participated in a play at your church or in school? Do you have a degree or background in theater that you want to use for God’s glory? Are you able to commit to giving some of your time this Christmas season? If the answer is yes to these questions, then the Creation Museum may be a place for you to use your skills.

We are seeking experienced actors with passion, charisma, and a desire to use their talents to reach people for Christ. Bethlehem’s Blessings: A Christmas Nativity and Garden of Lights is a free event and outreach to the public, and we need actors and crew members to commit their time and expertise to achieve a quality evangelistic production.
