March 31 and October 20, 2012. Registration opens March 3 and October 20, respectively.
Come join us for an evening of astronomy, fellowship, and worship on this fantastic journey through the universe. You will be treated to a special viewing of New Horizons, a show not typically presented at the museum, during which you’ll ride on a comet through our solar system.
After a few instructions on how to get the most out of your viewing experience, we’ll head out to the observatory, where you’ll be treated to a variety of heavenly views through two powerful telescopes. There will be binary stars, nebulae, globular clusters, galaxies, and planets. You may even be treated to an iridium flare as a satellite passes by, or a view of the space station as it races overhead.
Of course, it’s always possible that the weather won’t cooperate and we are unable to use the telescopes, but that just means we get to stay inside for a truly unique presentation. We are able to manipulate time and space through the powerful technology of the Stargazer’s Planetarium. Be prepared for an amazing astronomy lesson as you watch the changing phases of the moon, follow planets through a retrograde cycle, or learn how to determine your longitude and latitude using the stars. See the “North Star” of Noah’s day, which is not the current star, Polaris. Travel forward in time and see what the night sky would look like if the Lord tarries for a million years. You will not be disappointed if you don’t get to go outside and view the actual night sky!
The universe is a wonderful manifestation of God’s immensity, power, and creativity. Join us for a glimpse of the majesty of our Creator as we take a closer look at His heavenly creation. These programs are led by creationist astronomers including Dr. Danny Faulkner and Dr. Don DeYoung.
Normal Stargazer's Night events cost $15.95 per person, but this event is completely free for members! The program is designed for older children and adults. Children are welcome, but for the enjoyment of all guests, we encourage you to leave children under 12 with another caregiver if possible.
Registration is required and will open four weeks prior to each event. Both dates will fill up very quickly, so register early.
“We had a great family time and also enjoyed meeting other members and their families. Thanks for offering such a fun evening to our family. . . . There was obviously a lot of thought and care that went into planning this event. Thanks for all the kindness :)”
